individual Exhibition of Mônica Nador in Europe |
An event supported by the AFAA within
the framework of the Year of Brazil in France
 |
|
The Espace Croix-Baragnon
presents the first individual exhibition in Europe of
Mônica Nador.
Carried out in the underprivileged districts of Latin
America, her work is not intended for galleries or museums,
and it is what makes this exhibition so singular. It
is not a matter of painting training, but of transformation,
of evolution of consciousness through aesthetic experiences.
A documentary, shooted in Brazil, by ¡Rio Loco!,
will be projected in order to apprehend her work concretely.
Mônica Nador is one of the artists in charge of
the JAMAC, Jardim miriam arte club, a contemporary art
workshop and a cultural place of one of the most underprivileged
suburbs of São Paulo. Its raison d'être:
to lead the inhabitants of these suburbs to become the
instigators of the transformation of their own environment.
On June 13, the artist
will be present during the preview at the Espace Croix-Baragnon
at 18:00.

Nocturnes, São Paulo »
[...] «When I began this work, the only clear
idea which came into my mind was to represent the town
of São Paulo by night. It was in 1988.
Since the beginning, I use the same camera, an old Polaroid
SX-70 from the Seventies, a great standard in photography...
My personal work is mainly in black and white but the
colors and the surprising result concerning the resolution
and the texture of the Polaroid fascinates me. »[...]

Afro-Brazilian traditions»
[...] «These series of photographs show various
Afro-brazilian traditions in the region of Nordeste.
The afro-Brazilian cultures are numerous but remain
unknown most of the time. Their originality and their
mystery lie as well in the conservation of habits from
Africa as in the integration of elements coming from
Native Americans or their descendants (the Caboclos)...»

Galerie Légendes,
within the framework of the ManifestO festival
[...] « Subdivisíveis is a work carried
out with the technology of digital painting. It is the
result of the interactivity between the artist, the
